I know, I know, I have a one track mind when it comes to my very infrequent projects and posts. Last Saturday saw the culmination of a two day course on Japanese Pattern Cutting based on the Pattern Magic 3: Stretch Fabrics book.
The course was at Morley College in south London and, like the previous ones I have attended, we went through how to draft a number of the weird and wacky patterns from the book. This time around I drafted the Crescent Moon, the Jutting Edge, the Sharp and Snappy and one of the Loopholes.
Plus, this time around I had time to make up an actual toile. So here is Jutting Edge - although my version should really be renamed Jutting Inside Edge.
The dress as shown in the book is pretty unflattering - what with having a big flap of fabric overhanging your stomach - but by tucking the point inside it creates a rather nice draping effect. I have also shortened the original from a dress to more of a tunic.
I am hoping to run up the Loophole - but I'm afraid the Crescent Moon and Sharp and Snappy are not for me.
